Theme parks and attractions across the Emirates

The UAE packs more major theme parks into an hour's drive than almost anywhere else. IMG Worlds of Adventure is the largest indoor park in the world - fully air-conditioned, Marvel and Cartoon Network zones, and the best choice on a hot or rainy day. Dubai Parks and Resorts holds Motiongate (Hollywood rides and shows), Bollywood Parks and Legoland Dubai plus Legoland Water Park, which is aimed squarely at children aged 2 to 12. Global Village, open October to April, is a seasonal culture-and-shopping carnival rather than a ride park.

For water parks, Atlantis Aquaventure on Palm Jumeirah is the biggest, with the Leap of Faith slide, a private beach and shark-filled lagoons; Wild Wadi sits opposite the Burj Al Arab and is easier to cover in half a day. In Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World has the world's fastest rollercoaster, Warner Bros. World is fully indoor, and Yas Waterworld leans towards families. Most Yas Island parks can be combined on a multi-park ticket that works out cheaper than separate entries.

Plan a full day per major park and arrive at opening - queues build sharply after 12:00 PM, and in summer the outdoor parks are best before 11:00 AM or after 4:00 PM.
